good point regarding the iotedgedev container. I just wanted to show the "start from scratch" way...another point is that iotedgedev container is only avalable for amd64 arch but not for arm64 https://hub.docker.com/_/microsoft-iotedge-iotedgedev...starting from scratch you basically have more control over the base image and its size ...also it might have too much of the stuff you might not need like e.g. OpenJDK, Maven etc....but nevertheless you are right it can be used as the base image
